INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS WORKSHOP IN FLORENCE (ITALY)
Dear colleagues!

We are glad to start the cooperation with your University and welcome to take part in the XI International Students Workshop “Linguocultural Space of the City with Special Reference to the Dictionary Project “Florence in the Works of World Famous People”. The project leader is Dr. Prof. Olga Karpova, Vice-Rector for PR at Ivanovo State University.

As far as we know, you have a degree programme – Tourism and Leisure Management, so your students will have the possibility to enrich their knowledge and have some practice.

The first International Students Workshop was held in 2008 and has been promoted since by Romualdo Del Bianco Foundation and Life Beyond Tourism. Numerous partner Universities from Russia, Serbia, Croatia, and Hungary took part in the workshops.

The purpose of the workshop is to create a dictionary intended for guides and tourists. The project is aimed at studying Florentine cultural heritage presented in the works of national writers, artists and composers who lived and worked in this marvelous city. All of them were inspired by Florence, its museums, monuments, architecture and people.

The students are requested to submit their own dictionary articles dedicated to famous people (writers, artists, musicians, scholars,political figures, etc.) who visited Florence in different periods of time. The information is taken from reliable sources’ such as international and national encyclopedias on culture, art, literature, and politics. Special focus is made on Florentine places, customs and traditions. Every national group is expected to present their homework in a dynamic, original and visualizing form. The students’ presentation will take 15 minutes. Other creative ideas are welcome.

During eight years of the workshop (2008-2015) its participants studied nearly 150 personalities from 14 countries. Among them there are painters (I. Aivazovsky, A. Dьrer, K. Korovin, F. Leighton), writers (W. Shakespeare, F. Dostoevsky, A. Akhmatova, H. Heine, A.G. Matoљ), musicians (S. Rachmaninoff, M. Rostropovich, G.F. Hдndel), scientists (L. Mechnikov, A. Herzen, Y. Vorontsova-Dashkova) and other outstanding figures.

We have already published 7 issues of a dictionary.

The WORKSHOP FEE is Ђ 450,00 per person (low season) and it includes:

— Accommodation on a B&B basis for 7 nights in multiple rooms (we can’t assure accommodation divided by gender or by university of provenance). Special needs should be communicated to the Organizing Secretariat. All participants must pay the full participation fee;

— Entrance to the museums Galleria degli Uffizi, Galleria dell’Accademia, Museo San Marco, Cappelle Medicee, Palazzo Pitti, Boboli Garden, Bargello;

— Pasta Party on Friday or similar meal on the closing of the workshop;

— Discount card for meals in Caffй Astra al Duomo;

— Meeting room for the Opening and Closing of the workshop, with the use of the PC and projector;

— Programme of the workshop;

— Certificate of participation;

— Management of the website to present the works prepared before, during and after the WS; — Assistance in visa request procedures.

The GROUP of you University should be formed from: a group leader (Professor), an assistant (a young teacher, who will help Professor to work with the group), 4 students.
